Recent graphic by my much maligned Adobe tells only part of a story. The part not seen, or at the very least is understood to non-creatives, is often creativity takes incubation, by which I mean time, time to think and doodle and gestate on whatever creative task is at hand. Time that the majority of companies, especially those in America, don’t want to spend. Time in which many bosses who think one must be busy head-down working or you’re wasting time, don’t realize being creative takes not only hard work, but work that may seem like play. Play, in fact, is the active state of being creative, play is learning, and learning is creative.
